Ship was in service for the United States Navy until 1970 when it was decommissioned and scrapped. During service it sank Japanese Submarines, picked up survivors of sunken ships, destroyed numerous torpedos and sank sub chasers as well as other vessels all while travelling at a speed of 37 knots. Ship was loaded with technology and armament still used in variation today.
